Albert Einstein

As Albert grew he seemed slow to learn and this worried his parents. He was nine years old before he could express ideas clearly. But at an early age he has a very curious mind. When he was five, his father gave him a compass. How surprised his parents were to see Albert's excitement at how the compass worked. This was the beginning of his lifelong love of science.

Although Albert would someday be a famous scientist, he did not like school. In the Germany of his time, school rules were strict and teachers were as stern as army officers. He often did poorly, for he didn’t like studying things that didn’t interest him. Only his history teacher understood this independent student……
Einstein was indeed a puzzle. But without this great and complex man’s contributions to the scientific world, we would not have gained the understanding we have today of time, space, matter and energy. Still, even today, we do not truly understand what this remarkable man gave to the world of science.
