This type of armour was originally designed for Maximilian I, (1459-1519 reigned 1493 – 1519), and his soldiers. This emperor was a creative

innovator of armour. At the beginning of the 16th century, he built an arsenal at Innsbruck., Austria, specializing in armour production. The suit shown here became popular throughout Europe for decades (1510 – 1545). The complete suit weighs 30kg (66 pounds).
